The top has a 2 inch umbrella hole covered with a stainless steel plate when an umbrella isn't being used.
The build and quality of this table is absolutely excellent. Because of that, it is very heavy and in order to be protected in shipment, comes in a heavy sturdy shipping crate. The bottom line is you will need three or four people to remove it from the crate and to move it into position for assembly. Assembly is simple and straightforward. One tip is to be sure you have a long thin screwdriver to insert the stainless screws as they must go in deep. The flip up extensions work smoothly and the joinery of all parts is either pegged or mortise and tenon. There are no cheap mechanical fasteners. Finally, the table is a bargain at Chic Teak's price and, no, I don't work for them. Don't hesitate, buy it.

Great craftmanship and superior product
The table was well packaged and successfully survived the attempts of the freight company to destroy the outer packing. It arrived much sooner than expected and was very easy to assemble. The hard part was waiting to the glue to set so we could turn it over to see the entire table top with the leaves extended. This table is more substantial than what we found locally for a higher price. I have no doubts the table will outlast us and hopefully future generations will enjoy it as well.

We use this table for dining and entertaining in our outdoor living space We love that it can be 72" table that seats 6 and can expand to a 96" that seats 8 and then expands again to seat 12 at 118". WOW, a clever design! There is no heavy leafs to remove, they just fold easily into the table
