How does the waxed finish affect the weathering process outdoors? Is there any additional maintenance required in the future? Thank you!
The waxed finish will wear of within a few weeks when the piece is left outside exposed to the elements. At that point, the teak wil begin turning a silvery grey patina which many people prefer. There is very little maintenance required. The teak can be occasionally washed with soapy water or sealed with a quality teak sealer such as SEMCO brand if you choose to keep it looking honeytone colored. We have a lakehouse in northeastern michigan. I am looking at the various teak bar stool / 30 in to seat/ and bistro table that will live on the boat house top from may 1- end of october. Will your products do well outside yearly for that duration. Direct sun from noon to sunset.
Thanks for your interest in our furniture. Our outdoor furniture is made from solid teak wood, so it can be used outdoors year round. We are based on the gulf coast and many of our clients use our furniture for resorts, spas, condos, and restaurants right on the beach. When used outside, the teak will lighten and eventually turn a silvery grey patina. The only maintenance is to clean it as necessary to remove mildew, grime etc. If you want to retain the 'brown' look of the wood, there are optional teak sealers, such as SEMCO brand.
